Three Days of Summer Fun

This week - on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday - Spirit Catholic Radio is having its Three Days of Summer Fun with music, Sticker Stops, contests and appeal. 

We have six Sticker Stop locations each day - one day in Lincoln & two days in Omaha - where our Spirit vans & tents will be set up during the morning, lunch & evening drive times. 

People with Spirit stickers on their vehicles will be invited to stop by, enjoy some food & enter to win a daily prize and a grand prize - a Spirit 15th Anniversary Travel Package. If you don't have a sticker, you can stop by & we will place one on your vehicle & you'll also be entered to win both prizes. 

Don't have time to go to a Sticker Stop? We gotcha covered! Post a FUN selfie showing YOU with a Spirit sticker on your vehicle or with a Spirit yard sign in your yard on our Facebook page & you'll be entered to win both prizes. Don't forget to also email us your name, phone number, address & email address to kvss@kvss.com. 

Make sure you listen to Spirit Mornings that week, as daily prize winners will be announced on Spirit Mornings each day after the Sticker Stop, while the Spirit Travel Package winner will be announced Friday, June 26, during Spirit Mornings.

School Folder Art Contest Winners Announced

Each year Spirit Catholic Radio provides approximately 25,000 colorful, two-pocket homework folders to Catholic elementary students, compliments of generous business underwriters

Students in our listening areas of Omaha, Council Bluffs, Lincoln, Northeast Nebraska, Central Nebraska and Western Nebraska are invited to use and enjoy the folders in whichever way best serves their needs.

The folders are printed with the artwork from the winners and runners-up from our annual Catholic Schools art contest. Each year, the winners’ artwork is printed on the covers and featured on our web site. Both students and teachers have their names announced on Spirit Catholic Radio in the spring and also win a variety of prizes.

The theme for our 2014 School Folder Art Contest was Encounter Jesus! It's the theme we've chosen to use for the radio network's 15th anniversary, which is this year. 

A big thank you to all the schools and students participating in the 2014 contest. There were tons of fantastic entries from talented students across the listening area.

School Folder Art Contest | Official Rules
• The contest is open to all Catholic elementary school students and homeschool students in the Spirit Catholic Radio Network listening area.
• All participants will enter their designs to Spirit Catholic Radio by:
Friday, March 28, 2014 at 4 p.m.
• It is the responsibility of the teachers (or parents) to mail or deliver the entries by the deadline.

• The designs should be based on the following theme: Encounter Jesus.
• Please limit size of designs to 8” x 8” (maximum & minimum). 
• Please limit design to 5 colors.
• Important: Please include student’s name, address, phone, e-mail, school name, grade and art teacher’s name with each entry and any other information you may feel is pertinent.
• Please submit entries only once.
• Three grade divisions (one winner, one runner-up from each division):
        - Kindergarten - 3rd
        -4th - 6th
        -7th and 8th
• The winners will be determined by the staff at Spirit Catholic Radio Network. 
• All entries become the property of Spirit Catholic Radio Network. 

The 2014 schedule is as follows:
• Entry Deadline: Friday, March 28, 2014, by 4 p.m. 
• Winners announced LIVE on Monday, April 14 on the Spirit Mornings show. Winning students’ names will also be sent by e-mail to the schools. 
• Designs go to press May 2014.
• Please note: if you would like your students’ artwork back at the end of the contest please let us know.  We will make it available for pick-up.

Spirit Catholic Radio is proud to announce the ten 2014 Superstar Catholic Schools. These schools were chosen based on voting in our annual Superstar Catholic School Contest that took place Jan. 13 through 18.

Spirit Catholic Radio is proud to support Catholic education. That's why we created the annual Superstar Catholic School Contest, which is taking place right now for the second year. The contest was created to take place in conjunction with Catholic Schools Week and to honor the Catholic schools in our listening area.

How does the contest work? All Catholic elementary schools in the Spirit Catholic Radio listening area are eligible to win and listed on our website. From Jan. 13 through Jan. 18, the public is encouraged to go to the website and vote for their favorite school. The top two schools from the Central Nebraska region; top two from the Northeast Nebraska region; top two from the Lincoln region; and top four from the Omaha/Iowa Metro region will be named Superstar Catholic Schools. Those schools will receive a custom banner, an interview on the Spirit Mornings show which will air during Catholic Schools Week, Jan. 27 through 31 and a feature on our website.


As an added bonus, everyone voting for their favorite school will be entered to win one of two mini-trips to the Regency Lodge in Omaha or the Holiday Inn Country Club Plaza in Kansas City.

Last year, approximately 8,000 people voted for their favorite schools and this year we're expecting just as many, if not more. Spirit Catholic Radio is thrilled that so many of our listeners are taking the time to show their support for Catholic education.
